Classroom Training & Events

Please read the information below regarding safety policies for in-person classes.

Idaho Rural Water Association places the health and safety of our communities in the highest regard. As such we are doing our best to comply with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Idaho Governor's office to limit the spread of COVID-19. If you have had any cold or flu-like symptoms or a fever, or have been around someone with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19, please stay home to prevent the spread of the virus.

We will be implementing 6 feet of separation between all students and instructors in our classrooms. We encourage the use of face masks, and we will have hand sanitizer available at each seat. In order to limit the spread of germs we will not be serving any water or refreshments at our training classes. We will also be limiting class size to accommodate for social distancing, so please register early! If you have questions about the cleaning regimen of any of the facilities, please contact Adrianna at 208-392-3576.

Virtual classes are still an option for those concerned about exposure. Check our training calendar for new virtual classes, or use Suncoast Learning anytime to obtain Idaho CEUs from the comfort of your home or office.

Idaho Rural Water Association offers training classes for drinking water and wastewater utility operations specialists as well as for other related industry professionals such as utility boards members, elected officials, clerks, and managers.  Unless otherwise specified all classes have been approved or are pending approval for drinking water or wastewater CEUs (Continuing Education Units) by the State of Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses (IBOL).

Activated Sludge

July 22nd-23rd, 2020 - Post Falls

Learn all about activated sludge! The first day of this class will consist of classroom instruction and the second day will be spent at an activated sludge plant. Learn the basics including what activated sludge is and why it’s so effective at treating large quantities of raw waste. Learn the different classifications of activated sludge and the pros and cons of each variation. Day two will focus on process control and troubleshooting. Discuss the importance of each treatment unit and learn operating tips for each. Learn how to recognize signs of poor performance and how to apply appropriate operational adjustments. Attendance is required at both days for credit.

DAY ONE: Class will be held at the Post Falls Police Training Room 1717 E Polston Ave Post Falls, Idaho 83854. Parking on the street is required, so arrive early!

DAY TWO: Class will be held at the Post Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant 2002 W Seltice Way Post Falls, Idaho 83854. Dress appropriately for outside instruction time.
