This class will provide an overview of monitoring efforts by DEQ and EPA involving PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid). These are long lasting chemicals, components of which break down very slowly over time. The fifth unregulated contaminant monitoring rule (UCMR 5) will also be discussed including what systems can expect on the monitoring and mitigation for safe drinking water.

This course will examine monitoring, identifying, and planning for PFAS at wastewater systems and how these contaminants will effect future permit applications and mitigating point source pollution.
