Classroom Training & Events

Update on IRWA's COVID-19 training policies:

Idaho Rural Water Association has made the difficult decision to offer virtual classes only while Idaho remains in Stage 2. We want to be part of the solution and help move Idaho back to "normalcy" as soon as we can! For this reason all of our January 2021 classes will be virtual.

If there is a class you want to take but do not want to participate in a virtual class, look ahead! Chances are we will offer the course in person later in the year. Please call our office with any questions about the training classes, virtual format, and COVID-19 policies. Thank you for your understanding.

We are in the process of posting our 2021 classes and opening registration. If there is a class you want to sign up for that you don't see, check back in a few days!

Idaho Rural Water Association offers training classes for drinking water and wastewater utility operations specialists as well as for other related industry professionals such as utility boards members, elected officials, clerks, and managers.  Unless otherwise specified all classes have been approved or are pending approval for drinking water or wastewater CEUs (Continuing Education Units) by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) - (formerly known as the State of Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses (IBOL)).

In this course we will discuss the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and other applicable laws and regulations for drinking water operators. We will walk through filling out laboratory paperwork, discuss where to collect samples, how to develop a sample site plan, and common mistakes made by both operators and lab technicians. Additionally, we will cover the importance of monitoring the chlorine residual throughout your system, the need to develop Standard Operating Procedures for sample collection, and the do's and don'ts of sampling procedures.
