Idaho Rural Water Association offers training classes for drinking water and wastewater utility operations specialists as well as for other related industry professionals such as utility boards members, elected officials, clerks, and managers.  Unless otherwise specified all classes have been approved or are pending approval for drinking water or wastewater CEUs (Continuing Education Units) by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) - formerly IBOL.

This course will define the concept of “Power Factor”.  Power factor refers to the relationship between active (useful power) and the apparent (total) power. This relationship is a measure of how effectively electricity is being used.  Related terminology and understanding the utility’s power bill will be discussed. Equipment and strategies to reduce a utility’s power bill and thus save money will be explained. Electrical safety will also be briefly discussed.
